Fedora 10 Released with New Features

On November 25 2008, the Fedora developer community announced the release of Fedora 10, a new version of the popular open source Linux distribution. Fedora 10 is built on Linux kernel version 2.6.27 and is sponsored by Red Hat.

During development stages of Fedora, there was a security breach in project servers by malicious hackers and this was the main reason of Cambridge, the code name for Fedora 10, coming into the gossip way before it was launched. But the developers handled the security breach very well resulting in the successful launch of Fedora 10.

This version has been released with in six months after the release of Fedora 9, but the new release introduces some important new features and technologies that bring more robustness and usability to the desktop user experience.

Some of the new features and improvements include addition of OpenOffice 3.0, new virtualization features, internet connection sharing, faster booting, a new security audit tool.
