Have you ever tried playing a game while your system is updating its virus definitions. It's really a very frustrating task because it will drain your system resources.

Well, Symantec has realised about this, which makes the company to release Norton AntiVirus 2009 Gaming Edition. This edition is designed specifically for gaming and estimated to use 80% less memory as compared with other antivirus software.

Nothing is more worse than having the game screen automatically minimized because of a virus update pop-up after reaching the critical point in the game. To avoid all these, the Gaming Edition of Norton AntiVirus 2009 comes with a “Gamers Mode” which will suspend LiveUpdate and anti virus alerts, thus not interrupting user gaming experience but Auto-Protect will still be enabled. It will wait till the system is idle and then perform the update tasks, which inturn can be scheduled by the users.

This product is yet to be launched and the release date is not yet been confirmed. Hope, it is launched soon and every gamer should have it installed in their systems.

If you ever try this, I'd like to hear what you think. I've switched to Kaspersky and find it much nicer than anything Norton had to offer.
